The deadline for entry in the 2019 Pulitzer Prize Letters competitions (including Fiction, History, Biography, Poetry and General Nonfiction) was 11:59 p.m. Hawaii–Aleutian Time on October 1, 2018. Applications for all book prizes, including submission of author photos, bios and payment of entry fees, must be done through our entry site. Please visit the Letters section of our How to Enter page for more information.
Books published in October, November and December should have been submitted for the October 1 deadline in galley, page-proof or bound manuscript form.
Please note that the Pulitzer office will continue to accept the physical book components of otherwise complete entries until 5:30 p.m. EDT on October 15. Tracking should indicate that your submission was delivered to Pulitzer Hall or 2950 Broadway by that time.
Entrants need only apprise the office of the status of an entry if tracking indicates that it was not delivered to Pulitzer Hall or 2950 Broadway. Entrants will receive an automated confirmation note as soon as the package is opened. If your tracking indicates that it has been delivered to Pulitzer Hall or 2950 Broadway, it will be processed.
As a result of new Columbia University procedures, the Pulitzer Prize staff is required to break down submission boxes and dispose of related trash. We kindly ask that you minimize the use of bubble wrap, shipping popcorn, shrink wrap and paper stuffing in your submissions. When feasible, padded envelopes or USPS flap boxes are preferred for individual submissions.
If you have any questions or are not sure whether your entries are complete, please call us at (212) 854-3841 or email [email protected].
