Pulitzer-winning cartoonists gather in Miami to share work

Editorial cartoonists Jim Morin, Joel Pett, Steve Benson, Ann Telnaes and Paul Szep came together in Miami to discuss The Power of Art, and capture Miami Dade College students' experiences in pen and ink.

According to the video, "It was an opportunity for the cartoonists to capture in real-time our students' experiences. So there were conversations about homelessness, women's rights, foreign affairs [...] students were able to see how their passion was turning into a reality in front of their eyes."

"What better way to empower our students, to see that award-winning cartoonists were able to embrace their story, and for them to see in real-time how that could come to art — and turn that into action," the video reports.

At 1:55, hear how one MDC student responded when Telnaes asked the crowd about what an editorial cartoon is, and what it can do.

Pulitzer-winning editorial cartoonists participate in The Power of Art at Miami Dade College with support from the Miami Herald.
