Pulitzer Board Member Neil Brown appointed President of Poynter Institute

Neil Brown

Neil Brown, who joined the Pulitzer Prize Board in 2015, is set to become president of the Poynter Institute. Brown currently serves as editor and vice president of The Tampa Bay Times.

Brown is a four-time Pulitzer Prize juror, and under his leadership the Times won more national and state awards than at any time in its history, including six Pulitzer Prizes.

"From more than 100 candidates, Neil emerged as the leader who will help Poynter build upon its success as a place that improves journalism and strengthens democracy, both across the United States and around the world,” former Pulitzer Board Chair Paul Tash, who currently serves as chairman of Poynter's board and the board of The Tampa Bay Times Company, told Poynter. “That purpose has never been more essential.”
