Michael Chabon and Colson Whitehead among 2017 NYPL Library Lions

The New York Public Library counted two Pulitzer-winning novelists among its 2017 Library Lions. "The Underground Railroad" author Colson Whitehead and "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay" author Michael Chabon received the honor this year, along with Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden, theater/visual artist Robert Wilson and author and journalist Tom Brokaw.

The Library's blog features videos of each honoree — learn about what Whitehead considers the "perfect novel" and who Chabon counts among his "literary crushes" here.

From NYPL:

For over 35 years, the Library has celebrated these individuals. Previous honorees include author Margaret Atwood, South African President Nelson Mandela, actor Steve Martin, director Martin Scorsese, novelist Zadie Smith, activist Gloria Steinem, media mogul Oprah Winfrey, and many more. Last year’s honorees were Harry Belafonte, Hilary Mantel, Javier Marías, Peggy Noonan, and Colm Tóibín.
